He played Damon Salvatore in the hit supernatural show, The Vampire Diaries.
And now American actor Ian Somerhalder has talked about the idea of a reboot.
The 41-year-old appeared on Sunrise on Thursday and was asked if the show could ever be re-visited.
Ian said he doesn’t think he’ll be back on the show anytime soon. But that doesn’t mean it won’t happen again. It ran from 2009 to 2017.
Ian was asked during the chat if either of his shows, The Vampire Diaries or Lost, could make a comeback. On Lost he played Boone Carlyle.
He spoke to fans for reboots, saying: ‘I think those shows are gone now, but if the people want vampire diaries to come back bad enough anything is possible the fans have the power.’
‘The Vampire Diaries is a show that’s building in viewership after the show has left the air. It’s an incredible new era of this.’
‘I couldn’t imagine me returning to Lost or Vampire Diaries, but I definitely love that these properties are still living in people’s homes and souls and their minds. It’s a very powerful time and I’m grateful for streaming and life after broadcast.’
Ian is promoting his new show, V Wars, on Netflix, which is also about vampires.
Ian revealed why ‘loves’ the vampire theme, saying that the genre is ‘an amazing platform to tell stories that transcend generations’.
He told The Daily Telegraph last week that he was anxious about starring in another vampire series, V Wars, when he was first offered the part.
‘Initially? Yes. I totally had trepidation because you trust your team, right?’
But after going through the script, Ian said: ‘I had no trepidation once I fell in love with [the role].’
Ian plays Luther Swann, a doctor working to find a cure for a viral epidemic that turns people into vampires.
